Holistic Therapy for pre-teens and teens (ages 10-17)

I specialize in helping pre-teens and teens who are struggling with
low self-esteem, depression and/or anxiety symptoms to learn ways to manage stress and improve confidence by learning coping skills that can serve and benefit them for the rest of their lives. 

What to expect:

I create a space for pre-teens and teens to explore their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions in a non-judgmental way.
Expect to feel heard, listened to, seen, and understood. Also expect to learn ways to deal with stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms in order to help you through these pivotal years of your life.

 

Before beginning treatment, we will start with an initial intake appointment involving an assessment that allows me to get a bigger picture of what you are currently going through and what you are looking to receive from therapy with me. Parents/Caregivers are typically involved in the assessment and intake process, unless the teen is seeking therapy without the involvement of caregivers. If caregivers are involved, assessments with the client and with the caregivers are completed every 3-6 months or annually, depending on client needs. When caregivers are involved, individual therapy is given to the preteen/teen and collateral sessions are given to parents/caregivers to further support the preteen/teen, but we will not be discussing anything reported in session unless the preteen/teen is unsafe. The preteen/teen will receive full confidentiality and I will become somewhat like their living diary/journal. Family Therapy sessions with preteens/teens and their parents/caregivers are available upon request, so long as the client is in agreement and open to it.

When working with me, expect that I will keep your information private, and expect to be able to ask for what you want. The client (the preteen/teen) gets to decide what kind of therapy they want to engage in, such as talk therapy, art therapy, mindfulness practices, some of the above, none of the above, or something else. If you'd rather just have a safe space to ventilate stress and not receive any advice or learn any coping skills, that is OK too. I trust that you know what you need.
